getting far in life
2004-08-12

so i figure it's time to post again, every 2 months is not bad, eh? not much has changed since the last post. firey hot one night stand (best sex ever! wtf?), long involved crushing on a boy finally pays off.

the crush boy is actually an old friend, met him my freshman year of college when he was visiting another pal. he has photos of me at a braid show. strange. the hot tattoo had a lot to do with the crush. mmmm... koi. i was confused and had relinquished the crush, thinking that there should just be friendship, fine, ok. then a late night call (ok, text message) led to confirmation of crushing on both sides. hmmm.... in an attempt to make him question his feelings i led him on an alleycat-style chase through the streets of chicago. this was good and bad: good in that i realized that i fucking love my bike ($1100 meile road bike that i found for $11) and my new tires (yellow to go with red frame - hot!) and my skills as a cyclist -- bad in that it transformed his opinion of me "from simple crush to fucking dreamboat" (his words). never try to outrun a boy on a fixed gear - he'll find a way to catch you.

there was the obligatory talk - i cannot fix myself to one person, no way. too much bad blood for me, just as bad for partner. so i will be truthful, especially next month at soul night, when potential one-night stand can potentially become two-night stand separated by one month. i've got big plans for this one... grrrr....

went to the suburbs and was shocked to see a house made of money, incuding greco-roman hot-tub room with columns and marble and inscriptions in latin, the basic gist being "don't let the man get you down". truer words have ne'er been spake.

good friend is visiting from texas next week... so fucking excited to drink beers with him and talk shit about our past. we will get drunk on our mutual admiration for eachother, and i will do my best to convince him that he needs to live here. dammit.

speaking of texas, my fucking cousin is getting married in austin in february, which means being in a city i am not fond of for a weekend, but also there is the seeing above mentioned friend and sneaking him into the wedding party for boozin'. oh yeah, and family. i guess i'll see family.

it is 60 degrees and rainy in this fair city. in august. pdx and chicago have switched weather. it is in the 90s there.

i want that, not this. there are many reasons why i left portland, and this is one of them.

still caring for cats, wanting to get another but knowing better. falling asleep in a room full of kittens is incredibly pleasant, especially when they fall asleep on top of you.

signed up for GREs. getting into gradschool is easy, right?
